Four countries in one week!
Over the past week, we've been in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland!
We went on a hike in Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps in Germany...
Then met some wonderful people in Austria who invited a group of other T3 owners over for a barbecue...
We stayed by their lake for a couple of nights and were invited to have breakfast with their extended family!
While we were in Austria we met someone who suggested that we travel to the Arctic Circle via Estonia and Finland instead of Germany and Sweden, so that's what we're doing! He let us stay by his lake in the Czech Republic too.
Our first night in the Czech Republic was very eye-opening. We stayed at a winery and Sam asked how long the family had been making wine. Their business had started in 1990 after the Velvet Revolution at the end of 1989. Prior to this, Czechoslovakia was a communist country and the wine industry was very different as it was made for the masses and wineries were run by the state. We asked whether new businesses have been supported by the Czech people and were told that there are still some who see business owners as corrupt thieves who are stealing from the state. Whilst some people are better off, there are others who are worse off since the Velvet Revolution. But the good news is that their wine has improved!
We were also excited to find a Tesco and M&S in the Czech Republic, so we were able to get cave-aged cheddar cheese from Cheddar and bourbons too!
We finished off the week in Poland and visited Auschwitz. We didn't take any photos there but we felt it was important to visit.
