Day trip to Morocco!

Looking out from our camping spot in Tarifa, Sam was trying to work out which part of Spain we could see in the distance. After a while of looking at the map, then back at the mountains, then back at the map, I took a risk (Geography is not my strong point) and asked ‘are you sure it’s not Africa?!’
Morocco is far closer to Spain than we realised. Just a 35 minute ferry trip and we were there! Sam and I were really lucky to have been given money from our colleagues for our year off, so we decided to treat ourselves and make the most of our day by booking a tour with Said Private Day Tours. With no knowledge of Tangier and only a few hours to enjoy it, our tour was ideal.
We visited the Cap Spartel lighthouse…
… stood by the point where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean…
Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean
… rode camels by the Atlantic Ocean…
… visited the Hercules Caves…
…. and had a walking tour of Tangier!
Here we saw a baker at work…
… visited a fabric shop…
… where they made and sold camel hair scarves…
… had a tour of a spice shop…
… visited a posh hotel…
… where they have traditional hand-cut mosaics…
… and saw Tangier’s oldest mosque…
… which was being painted in their holy colour: green.
The highlight has to be lunch though! Restaurant Dar Lidam was used in the James Bond film Spectre. The views were fantastic and the food was delicious.

All in all, a very good day with Said Private Day Tours. A big 'thanks' to our colleagues for the money they gave us before heading off on our trip - it covered the ferry crossing and tour!
